How to operate and use Residual ink tester

12-09-2023

Residual ink affects the whiteness and color of recycled pulp and paper. In actual production processes, when most of the ink is removed, how much deinking chemicals are needed or how much bleaching is needed to counteract the coloring ability of the residual ink, thereby achieving the expected whiteness. This goal can be easily achieved by monitoring residual ink.

The ERIC value method used in this instrument is to measure the internal reflection factor and single-layer reflection factor (opacity should be less than 97%) of the sample under infrared irradiation at a wavelength of 950nm. The light absorption coefficient of the sample is calculated using the Kubeika Munk formula, and the residual ink concentration ERIC is calculated by dividing the light absorption coefficient of the sample by the light absorption coefficient of the residual ink.

How to operate and use a Residual ink tester

Press the test button or click the "Start button" to enter the testing interface

1) Place the determined sample stack on the sample holder of the instrument, and click R Å (front side) to test the internal reflection factor R Å value of the sample stack;

2) Take out the top sample of the sample stack, place its backing black cylinder on the sample holder, and click R0 (front) to test the reflection factor R0 value of the single layer;3) Move the top sample to the bottom of the sample stack and repeat the first two steps until 4 sets of data are obtained. If the sample is pulp, it should be ensured that these four sets of data are from four different laboratory pages.Note: The tests for R Å and R0 can be conducted alternately, or four tests for R0 can be completed before testing R Å

Flip the sample and stack it onto the opposite side. Repeat the above steps to test the data on the other side of the sample for [R Å reverse] and [R0 reverse].

4) After completing a set of data tests, click the save button and make statistics, including maximum, minimum, average, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation. Click the return button to return to the standby interface to view.

5) Delete and print test data: Click the "Delete button" to delete the selected test values or clear all test values. Click to print the selection item or statistical value.

6) Shutdown: Turn off the power switch, all displays turn off, and all set parameters and stored data are saved.
