The Winter Solstice festival originated in the Eastern Han Dynasty and was celebrated in the Tang and Song dynasties. It is the most important solar term among the 24 solar terms in China. There is a saying "Winter solstice is greater than the year" in 《QingJiaLu》, which shows that the ancients attached great importance to winter solstice. The ancient people believed that the winter solstice was the natural transformation of Yin and Yang and was a blessing given to people by heaven.
